Prayer Works Because Jesus Opened the Way!
Prayer is one of the most talked-about—and misunderstood—disciplines in the Christian life. Many believers know that they should pray, but fewer understand how prayer actually works according to Scripture. When answers don’t come quickly, discouragement sets in, and prayer can quietly drift from confident conversation to hesitant obligation.
Hebrews 4:14–16 reminds us that prayer is not built on our performance but on Christ’s provision. Because of Jesus, we are invited to draw near to the throne of grace with confidence—not fear, not doubt, and not uncertainty. Prayer works because Christ opened the way, faith anchors our trust, and the Holy Spirit assists us in our weakness.
As we continue our 2026 Regenesis focus—Equipping Prayerful Believers to Intentionally Make Disciples—this message examines the biblical mechanics of prayer. When prayer is understood rightly, it doesn’t just deepen personal devotion; it fuels disciple-making lives marked by faith, humility, and service.
My prayer is that this message encourages you not to worry about “getting prayer right,” but to come boldly, trust fully, and rely daily on the God who invites His people near.
Grace and peace,
Pastor James
